The journey of a coffee bean is a long one.

It starts at the farm, where processing and preparation takes place. Then, it passes through the hands of middlemen and goes to roasters like us before ending up in your cup.

During this journey there can be as many as 20 middlemen which obviously affects the farmers – from a cup of coffee worth $3, farmers earn an average of a few cents. The coffee industry is a classic example of the exploitation of countries in the Global South by the Global North. However, there is always room for improvement.

Coffee has been a part of human life for centuries. It was initially used as a medicine, then became a drink for the elite, and finally became available to all.

The history of coffee is divided into three waves: the first wave is when coffee became a mass product; the second wave is where coffee as an experience gain momentum (this is when chain coffee shops like Starbucks were born); and the third wave – it was during this wave that the quality of the beans themselves gained importance. The emergence of the concept of specialty coffee made people pay attention to conditions on plantations, decent wages for farmers – because all this translates into a perfect taste in our cup! It is the Third Wave that we proudly represent.
